We focus a lot on what we can’t control. But there is so much more to focus on—like Fireflies. When our girls, that are tweens now, were really little someone gave us a book titled “F Is for Fireflies: God's Summertime Alphabet”, By: Kathy-jo Wargin. This is a book that explores God’s season of Summer using the alphabet. “B” Build Sandcastles together, “P” share a Picnic with others. . .and so on.
I don’t want to ever outgrow the mentality of what God is teaching through this little children’s book.
With Summer we’re presented with a unique opportunity to strengthen the bonds within our families. Whether it's the longer days, the relaxed atmosphere, or the shared experiences, summer has a way of bringing families closer together and creating lasting memories. Intentionally invest in the relationships that matter most, seize and soak in every opportunity.
This idea hits a bit different as we’re about to see our oldest off to the Army. I’m finding myself almost frantic to get in all the moments with him before he goes. Just as a frozen lemonade from Chick-fil-a offers refreshment, our interactions and conversations within our families can bring renewal and encouragement. We can use this season to express gratitude for one another, to affirm and uplift each other, and to create an atmosphere where everyone feels valued and loved.
Summer is a season that reminds us of the beauty of God's creation and the gift of family. When laughter echoes through the air, when hugs are shared, and when memories are etched into our hearts. I don’t want to take these moments for granted but cherish them and thanking God for the blessing.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for the gift of family and the joy that comes with—we ask for Your presence to fill our homes and hearts. Help us to appreciate the precious moments we have with one another and to nurture the bonds of love within our families. May this summer be a time of growth, laughter, and shared experiences that strengthen our relationships. Give us the wisdom to prioritize our families and the grace to navigate any challenges that may present itself. In Jesus' name. Amen.
