"Called by God" Reception & Gallery Talk

Explore themes of religious dedication at the "Called by God" Reception and Gallery Talk at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art this January. The "Called by God" exhibit features artwork spanning from the sixteenth century to contemporary works from the museum's permanent collection. The subjects of this artwork include monks, nuns, priests and other people who have dedicated their lives to God. The reception and gallery talk is one-night-only, but the exhibit itself will be on display between December 21 and February 16 at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art in Shawnee.

Experience the beauty of nature at the Bald Eagle Watch in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area in Sulphur. Hosted in February, this event provides a unique opportunity to observe wildlife and nature. Bring your field guides, camera, sack lunch, binoculars, comfortable footwear and warm clothes for this eagle watch.
This event begins at Travertine Nature Center and includes a brief presentation followed by a park ranger-led trip to observe wintering bald eagles on the Lake of the Arbuckles. The Bald Eagle Watch gives visitors a chance to observe these majestic, once endangered birds in the wild. A prominent U.S. national symbol, the bald eagle holds a special place in the history of our country.

It has become a tradition at the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum to celebrate Kansas statehood with live performances in song and verse, harkening back to the cowboy years of Kansas.
Gather in the Museum's DeVore Auditorium for musical groups and cameo appearances by other local performers.
The annual event is made possible by museum volunteers and Friends of the Historical Museum.
The program will be streamed live on the Museum's Facebook Page due to its popularity and limited seating.

The joint venture between Yukon Parks and Recreation and the Ladies Library Club will be held February 1st, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dale Robertson Center, 1200 Lakeshore Drive. The indulgent festival hosts over 20 booths, a silent auction, as well as awards for best-tasting chocolates and best booth décor! Area businesses and organizations offer their favorite chocolate delicacies to those attending. Proceeds go to benefit programs and projects by Yukon Parks and Recreation and the Ladies Library Club.

The Friends of the Metropolitan Library System Annual Booksale is one of the biggest yearly book sales in the state and the country. Held in Oklahoma City at State Fair Park, more than 800,000 books covering a wide variety of topics are all on sale. Every genre of fiction and non-fiction, hardbacks, paperbacks, magazines and more bring thousands of people to this book extravaganza to find hidden treasures. Music, movies and audio books will also be for sale, and a special Better Books Area offers rare and keepsake books that are individually priced.

The Oklahoma County Junior Spring Livestock Show in Jones gives show attendees the opportunity to see who's got the best of the best animals. Whether it's comparing commercial heifers, swines or sheep, there is something for everyone at the livestock show. The Swine Showmanship will be held on Sunday night with the Swine show held on Monday. On Tuesday, guests can see sheep and goats followed by the cattle show on Wednesday. All kids are welcome to enter the contests, so come along to cheer the junior livestock breeders on to victory.
The Oklahoma County Junior Spring Livestock Show in Jones gives show attendees the opportunity to see who's got the best of the best animals. Come to Historic Stockyards City, in Oklahoma City, on Saturday, March 15th for the annual St. Patrick's Parade! It is a celebration of Oklahoma Irish heritage and the western culture of Stockyards City! This family friendly event begins at 10:00 a.m. You won't want to miss this!
The parade will be led by the Slash O Ranch Longhorns. You can see St. Patrick, marching bands, bagpipes, Irish dancers, the Shriners, cool cars, community groups, equestrian entries and much more.
Some fun activities for kids will be held, such as balloon art, face painting, and games.
Admission to the event is free. Come to Stockyards City for the St. Pats fun and stay for the day! Visit the shops, have a great meal, and enjoy the authenticity of the area.
The parade route begins at the intersection of Exchange Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue, it will head west to Agnew Avenue and then go south to S.W. 15th Street.

The Oklahoma History Center will hold the 2025 Oklahoma Farm-to-Table Festival on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free, family-friendly event will encourage the exploration of historic and modern agriculture. There will be hands-on activities and demonstrations for visitors of all ages.
The festival will offer many educational opportunities and experiences, including chuckwagon cooking and nutrition demonstrations, livestock, a petting zoo, various crafts, and story time. In addition, several Made-in-Oklahoma vendors will attend to illustrate how their products are created and distributed. Musical entertainment will be on the main stage. The event will take place indoors and outdoors.
Festival activities are free and open to the public. For those who would like to visit the museum galleries, we are offering discounted admission at just $5 per person.
