Stronger on the Other Side
September 13, 2023 by Brent McCoy
Last week, the OU Sooners beat Arkansas State 73-0. Here in the heart of Oklahoma, football is a year-round topic of conversation. Normally, those conversations are filled with speculation on what the team could have done better. The 'experts' talk about the improvements that the team needs to make before the next game.
The problem is, with a 73-0 victory, there are no improvements that need to be made. There is nothing to talk about. Perhaps, there is nothing to be learned.
With no struggle, there is no opportunity for improvement.
This is true for us too. We learn from trials. We actually get better when we learn from trials. James 1:2-4 says, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."
Jesus will meet our needs as we stay faithful to Him through the trials. We will only get better as we go through the struggle. We WILL be stronger on the other side. Remember that this week.
I will try to do the same.
