Train Hard. Run Hard.
July 26, 2024 by Kevin Brooks

As we “dive“ into the Summer Olympics (I’m thinking of a forward 4 1/2 somersault dive in the pike position, but choose your own favorite), I've been thinking that maybe we share something in common, as believers, with the Olympic athletes.

In 1st Corinthians, the apostle Paul says, “You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally.”

As we watch the Olympics coverage, we can be certain that every athlete competing has put in the time and effort to reach their goal. And so it is with Christ followers, if we’re to find God’s purpose for our lives, it will take time and dedication.

Great athletes immerse themselves in their sport. Doing great things for God requires us to immerse ourselves in Him and His Word. Train hard. Run hard. And win the prize that lasts for eternity!
