We all celebrate milestones in our life, and a big one for married folks is the wedding anniversary. Anniversaries must be a pretty big deal, since we spend $7-8 BILLION each year in this country, just to wish each other a happy anniversary. And who knows how much in flowers, gifts, and fancy dinners! It’s a pretty big deal…
Well, this week, my wife and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary! (we were married shortly after high school in case you’re doing the math!) We are together today, honestly, only because of the grace of Jesus, and we’re so grateful for the people and resources that God has placed in our path that helped strengthen us along the way.
In recognition of that, I’d like to share a resource that we’ve been studying recently. This is from Christian speakers and authors, Jim and Cathy Burns, and it’s a compilation of Bible verses that are often referred to as the “one another”. Typically, these verses are read as God’s will in our treatment and attitudes of neighbors, coworkers, etc., but Jim and Cathy suggest reading it with your spouse in mind.
This has been a real perspective shift for us, as my wife and I have read through these verses, and have made a positive difference in our marriage. We hope they make a difference in your relationship, too…
