There’s a lot of stress. I don’t need to tell you—I’m sure you have already recognized it popping up within your own friend group, checking account, family and workplace.
There is a lot you can’t do anything about—And there’s some of it you can. Focus on the things you can control. For example, the amount of effort we put in, my words, my actions and the way I treat others. The things that are outside of our control is other people and things from our past…
Every time I talk to my dad on the phone I’ll say, “So dad, how are things going.” He always says in his deep John Dutton-like voice “things are going fine… Those things I can control.” But honestly, there’s a lot of wisdom in that.
This is something I’ve been really struggling with currently. It’s been the number one topic in my prayer —releasing the things I cannot control— And honestly, it’s just a perceived control.
If this has been something you can relate to maybe we can both pray together asking the Lord for peace over things we don’t have control over— holding on with loose fingers and allowing God. Identify those things that are outside of your control and push them away to make room for more of the good stuff. Big hug.
