Living a Life of Impact
October 30, 2024 by Kevin Brooks
Eph. 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
I’ve heard it said that everyone wants to live a life that matters- to make an impact. I think that’s especially true among believers, but then… life happens. Work, family, finances- all of it consumes a portion of our time, and it can seem like we’re not making an impact in the way we had hoped.
I guess you could call this a sort of spiritual complacency. It happens to me, and to many of us- usually as a consequence of failing to be intentional in our spiritual growth.
But we CAN be intentional about making an impact! First, we start by recharging. We can’t pour out of ourselves and into others when we’re running on empty. So we spend time with God each day, strengthening that relationship by reading His Word, prayer, and surrounding ourselves with reminders of who God is and who He says we are. Those in our immediate circle of influence WILL notice the change in us!
Then, we can begin to expand that influence. Support an outreach that ministers in an area that’s significant to you, like a homeless ministry, a food bank, or a women’s shelter. Or, if I can be so bold, a ministry like The House. Donate your money, your time, and your social media platform to support and encourage those who support and encourage others.
It’s amazing to see how God can use one obedient person to inspire others. One point of light becomes two, two becomes four, and so on.
And here on the Kevin and Amy Morning Show, we’d like to help. We’ll continue to play music that lifts up the name of Jesus. We’ll share stories that inspire. We’ll offer hope and encouragement, and, hopefully, a smile just when you need it most.
Together, we can make a positive impact on our communities, our nation, and our world… and we can start now!
