Releasing Control

I never thought this would happen to us. This kind of thing only happens to other people… Not us, we’re too smart for that.

But here we are.

I’ve been so furious over the whole thing and have run the gamut of all the emotions. My husband, Lloyd, said it perfectly when he said “I could punch myself in the face right now for falling for something like this.”

So many of us work, our fingers to the bone and our emotions into a tangled fray, thinking of the “perfect outcome” for whatever our difficult situation.

I understand this deeply. But can I share something with you that I’ve been learning? When we’re praying and expecting God to do what only our finite human minds can see as good, we negate the fact that his definition of good and his timing of good is so much bigger and better than ours.

When we release control— And I mean of everything… Our relationships, our employment, our health, our finances—-the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and our minds. We can trust him. And we can trust that in his character, nature, wisdom, power, compassion, And love, he has the ability to respond to our prayers.

Yes, Jesus. I love You. I need You.
